In December 2017, the UN approved the celebration of this day.
Reason for choosing May 20
On this day of 1734, Anton Jansa a Slovenian beekeeper, regarded as 'The Pioneer of Modern Beekeeping' was born.
This year the theme of World Bee Day is - "Bee engaged: Let's Build Back Better for Bees"
Importance of Bees
Globally there are more honey bees than other types of bees and pollinating insects, so it is the world’s most important pollinator of food crops. It is estimated that one-third of the food that we consume each day relies on pollination mainly carried out by bees
