    According to UN, In December 1933, UN general assembly with the recommendation of UNESCO's general conference declared May 3 as World Press Freedom day.

    This day was declared to respect press freedom. It is also the day of sharing issues faced by the media professionals on press freedom and professional ethics.

    According to UN, This year’s World Press Freedom Day theme, “Information as a Public Good” serves as a call to affirm the importance of cherishing information as a public good and exploring what can be done in the production, distribution and reception of content to strengthen journalism, to advance transparency and empowerment.


Key topics of World Press Freedom Day 2021

-Steps to ensure the economic viability of news media; 
-Mechanisms for ensuring transparency of Internet companies; 
-Enhanced Media and Information Literacy (MIL) capacities that enable people to recognize and value, as well as defend and demand journalism as a vital part of information; as a public good.


Events around the world:

   On this day all over the world, various events take place to spread awareness on press and press freedom. It includes Regional Forums, Academic Conferences and Youth Newsroom. Other than that, UNESCO has partnered with various organizations around the world to celebrate this day. On this day, UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize will be awarded to the selected press personalities. According to the UN, investigative journalist and media executive, Maria Ressa of Philippines has been named as the 2021 laureate of the UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize.The award ceremony will take place at the World Press Freedom Day Global Conference.
    This annual award was created in 1997 to honour a person, organization or institution that has made an outstanding contribution to the defence and/or promotion of press freedom anywhere in the world.

What is Tuna?

    Tuna is a saltwater fish. It is an active and agile Predator and one among the fastest swimmer of the Ocean.
    Tuna is one of the most popular seafood across the World. In this case, canned tuna fish is more popular than raw tuna fish.

Benefits of Eating Tuna?

  •    Tuna is rich in vitamin B12, which is helpful in forming new red blood cells.
  •  Omega-3 fatty acids are present in this fish. It lowers the risk of heart diseases.
  •  It prevents vision problems and lowers the risk of developing dry eyes.
  •  It reduces the risk of cancer.
  •  It supports wight loss.
  •  Tuna is also rich in vitamin D, which improves bone health and immune system.

  According to the United Nations, Tuna fish are threatened by overwhelming demand due to its amazing benefits. So in December 2016, the United Nations General Assembly voted to officially observe World Tuna Day on 2nd May, in its resolution 71/124.

   This move underlines the importance of conservation management to ensure that we have systems to prevent Tuna stocks from crashing. Many countries depend heavily on Tuna resources for food security, nutrition, economic development, employment, government revenue, livelihoods, culture and recreation.

International Dance Day-April/29/2021

    Dance is a universal language. According to Oxford, the definition of dance is "move rhythmically to music, typically following a set sequence of steps". Dance gives emotional relief and pleasure to both the viewers and the performers.


    To spread the importance of dance, International Dance Day was created by the International Theater Institute (ITI) with the help of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO). From April 29,1982  the International Dance Day was celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Jean-Georges Noverse, the creator of modern ballet. 


    Every year, on this day various events regarding dance takes place all over the world. The International Theater Institute (ITI) also hosts a flagship event, where various culturally significant dance performances, educational workshops, and speeches made by ambassadors, dance personalities, dignitaries and the selected Message Author of the year are held as the agenda.


    The Message Author of 2020 was Gregory Vuyani Maqoma from South Africa. This year Friedemann Vogel from Germany is selected as the Message Author. The theme of International Dance Day 2021 is the "Purpose of Dance".

What:Every year, April 26 celebrates as World intellectual property day. On this day in 1970 World Intellectual Property Organisation came into existence.

When: From 2000, April  26, this day is celebrated as World intellectual property day

How: The general assembly of World Intellectual Property Organisation approved the idea of declaring a property day in in October 1999.

Why: To spread awareness of how patents and copyrights play an important role in our regular life. Then to promote innovators and creators in all fields.
